Through the looking glass

An ironic scenario these days might be to have a father criticize his son for having wasted his time playing video games all day, even though the father returned home from having spent his entire day staring at a computer screen.

One assumes that the father did something productive while he was staring at the screen...video games don't produce anything of value...aside from hand-eye coordination.

Melody,

What do you think might be an example of such "productivity"?

Oh, I don't know, designing advertisements and business logos? ;)

Writing news stories, informative reports? Proofing and editing someone else's articles and reports.

Crunching numbers, billing people, scheduling appointments/service.

Filing and organizing information.

Research.

That sort of thing.

Thanks for the elaboration, Erdman. I've never read anything by K., so I'm attentive to what you have to say about his ideas.
