Freedom in the hopeless

"Losing all hope was freedom."

From Fight Club (film), 1999. After Jack cries for the first time in the testicular cancer recovery group. So, he starts to attend support groups every night. "Every evening I died, and every evening I was born again, resurrected."

I'm moved, guys. Kanta, A Piece, and Hapi have demonstrated profound insights into this post. Maybe we could form a support group together, do some foot washing, change our icons into favicons, find our power animals...

John,

Your response is truly worthy of an lol!

When there are weird spam comments, I always kind of have a combination of feeling irritated and amused. Usually I wind up considering them some sort of a postmodern artistic representation. Like displaying a commode at an art exhibit, or Andy Warhol's Coke bottles.

We enjoyed The Fantastic Mr. Fox the other night. It evokes a central theme from Fight Club: are we too domesticated? do we need to fight our own domesticity in order to release our wild animal selves and reclaim the world? There's an implicit theological issue here. Is the True Self spirit or beast?

Or a spiritual beast? A physical, organic being with with a potential for deep spiritual, artistic, and creative reach?

I've got a new post that's relevant historically to this post and even to your spiritual beast idea.
